The INNkeepers Letter

Guest Pet Peeves

I recently read an article published in one of our B&B magazines about "Guests Pet Peeves." I slowly went down the
list and jotted down the things I could do right away to improve my B&B. Okay I can add another trash can here, another
light bulb there, but wait a minute, there are some things on this list I can't change. I can't make my guest rooms a different
size, I can't fit another night stand in the room, and I can't move my house to the country, wow, there is only so much I can
do with this list. The list went on and on, lighting being the number one complaint. Not enough light to read by, not enough
light in the bathroom. One guest was not able to open a window, another didn't appreciate wire hangers and thought plastic
would be more suitable. Another wanted phone jacks, another high speed internet.

Most of the things on the list our B&B passed with flying colors. Some I thought were just common sense, like having an alarm
clock in the room, a window that opens, or a door on the bathroom. But then again there were a few things on "that list" I didn't
have. Like two nightstands, or high speed internet, and I do have alot of "stuff" laying around. Is my prize possessions now
clutter? Oh know!!! So then I started thinking, and I kept thinking until I just couldn't think anymore LOL!.

Then I thought to myself okay I can get wireless, I can even go so far and get a laptop for guests to use but "NOW WAIT
JUST A MINUTE" If all the Bed & Breakfast were exactly the same wouldn't we be a hotel chain? Each B&B is a different
experience, and as long as that experience doesn't kill you, then it's a good day right? So stick a bulb in your purse, and an
extra nightstand in your car and come stay at the Spitzer House.
