- Beds
-
-
- Can any antique bed be converted into
a queen? Yes! Our beds were pretty easy because we were dealing with antique
- wood beds, brass
or iron beds are more difficult.
We ordered our rails through "Medina
Mattress" located in Medina
Ohio,
- Chuck is his name. He had a company make them for
us, and they were very reasonable! I think
$35.00.
-
- Bedspreads
-
- Wow! Bedspreads are beautiful today
aren't they? So many choices. But just remember this......... dry cleaning
bills add up.
- So think before
you buy. I always buy washable.
I would never consider buying anything
else. If it can't go in the washer
and
- dryer, I don't buy it! Also I make sure there are no specific
washing instructions. You really won't have
time to be reading labels,
- when you are knee deep in laundry.
(This reminds
me of "laying place mats flat to dry" don't even take
me there.)
-
- Always remember to allow for shrinkage,
some of these "Queen size" bedspreads shrink up, and are really a "Full
size"in disguise,
- you might even consider buying a "King", I know
in certain bedspreads I do. Just remember this........ everybody loves a
fresh
- clean bedspread!
I live in my Bed & Breakfast
so "clean everything" is important to
me. Just ask yourself....Would you
sleep
- in that bed? Would you lay on that bedspread? I think
you get my point. I get tempted to buy those dry clean bedspreads too
- believe me, but I don't. I went to
a B&B where she had
an 8X10 list of "what not to do laying on her bedspread.
"Do not lay
- on the bedspread" Please fold
the bedspread down before laying in bed."
"Do not lay on pillow shams."
"If you need an extra
- pillow remove pillow
shams." The list went on and
on. My first thought was how unfriendly,
my second thought was it was a dry
- cleanable bedspread. Who knows when the last time she
had it dry cleaned. Stuff like this kills me. I think if you are in the hospitality
business, you need to be a little hospitable. I wonder if she is one of those
INNkeepers that keeps asking herself why her business
- isn't any better. (bet she is)
